Service Description

Urban CGC (Advanced Public Skills & Urban CGC Preparation) Taking real-world skills to the next level. This 6-week group training program is designed for teams who have successfully completed their AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title and are ready to advance their training in real-world environments. Building on the foundation established in Real Life Foundations, this class focuses on developing the confidence, reliability, neutrality, and public manners needed to successfully navigate everyday life with your dog. Teams will practice real-world skills such as walking through crowds, navigating busy sidewalks, entering and exiting buildings, crossing streets safely, ignoring food and environmental distractions, greeting strangers appropriately, and remaining calm and engaged around everyday sights and sounds. Throughout the program, handlers will continue strengthening communication, engagement, and leash skills while helping their dogs build confidence in increasingly challenging public environments. Training will take place in a variety of real-world locations, exposing teams to different surfaces, distractions, movement, and situations commonly encountered in everyday life. This class follows the AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) test standards and is designed to prepare eligible teams for evaluation. As an official AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, Christa will conduct Urban CGC testing for qualified teams at the conclusion of the program. Class Details: • Duration: 6 weeks • Day & Time: Sundays at 11:30 AM • Start Date: June 14, 2026 • Location: Various public locations throughout Arlington and surrounding communities Prerequisites: • Current AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title • Completion of Real Life Foundations or instructor approval This class is ideal for owners who want a calm, confident companion they can confidently take into the real world while continuing to strengthen their relationship through training, communication, and shared experiences.
