Service Description

Puppy Foundations & Confidence (AKC STAR Puppy Eligible) Building confident puppies for a lifetime of learning. This 6-week group training program is designed for puppies between 3 and 8 months of age and focuses on building the foundation for a confident, well-mannered companion. Led by Maria of Balanced Dog Coach, with support from Christa of StormsAsh K9, this program goes beyond basic obedience by helping puppies develop confidence, engagement, social neutrality, and real-world life skills through thoughtful exposure, play, training, and relationship building. Throughout the program, puppies and their handlers will work on foundational skills including marker training, engagement, leash skills, recall foundations, place work, cooperative care, confidence-building exercises, impulse control, and basic obedience. Special emphasis is placed on helping puppies learn how to navigate the world calmly and successfully while building a strong relationship with their handler. Each class builds upon the previous week, providing clear guidance, practical homework, and support to help teams continue progressing between sessions. This program also introduces puppies and handlers to the skills needed for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Eligible teams may have the opportunity to complete the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluation at the conclusion of the program. Class Details: • Duration: 6 weeks • Day & Time: Sundays at 2:30 PM • Start Date: June 28, 2026 • Location: Arlington area (exact location provided after registration) Prerequisites: • Puppies between 3 and 8 months of age at the start of class • Age-appropriate vaccinations *Older puppies may be accepted with instructor approval.* This class is ideal for owners who want to build confidence, communication, and a strong foundation for future training while helping their puppy become a well-mannered member of the family and community.
